A quick-release plate (also known as a camera plate or quick-release plate) is a frequently used and very helpful accessory in
photo and video technology for tripod heads.

Ideal for using multiple cameras
Frequently
screwing the camera on and off the tripod (for example when using different
cameras) is often quite time-consuming and disruptive.

This problem can be solved by
using a quick-release plate. These plates are
screwed to the camera housing using the existing screw (usually 1/4 inch) and
then simply remains on the camera.

The easy-to-use locking mechanism of the quick-release plate on the
tripod head allows the camera to be easily and quickly inserted into or removed from the
tripod head.
