Walimex pro 800/8.0 DSLR Nikon F

Product information "Walimex pro 800/8.0 DSLR Nikon F"

Normally, a long focal length of 800mm also has a total length of almost 80cm to the sensor plane.

To achieve a compact solution that is both handy and universally applicable, a trick was used for this lens.
The beam path is simply ‘folded’ by means of two high-precision polished ring mirrors. This results in this compact design of only 131mm in length - compared to the almost 80cm mentioned above. The minimum focusing distance also drops to 3.5 metres – instead of at least 10 metres for a lens objective.

The focusing is done manually. The lens can be used (depending on the camera) with aperture priority or manual exposure setting.

It is not technically possible to insert an iris diaphragm into the folded beam path. If light reduction is necessary, this is easily achieved using 2x or 4x neutral density filters. These are screwed in front of the rear lens. An M30x0.5 thread is provided for this purpose.

Practical: the lens has no fixed infinity stop. Focusing is carried out in a ‘pendulum’ fashion, whereby the point of focus is reliably found from out of focus to in focus to out of focus at any distance.

T2 connection, user tip: The T2 adapter is screwed onto the optics, then the lens is locked. After loosening the small screws on the side of the T2 adapter, the lens can be ‘raised’ – the index points upwards. Retightening the screws reliably secures the lens and adapter.

Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor

Save time in post-processing. A number of lens defects such as distortion, edge blurring or vignetting occur at the outer edges of the image.
If you use a lens designed for a full-frame format on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. This gives you maximum quality.
Additional post-processing time to correct lens defects is no longer necessary.
