Walimex pro 8/3.8 Fisheye II Video APS-C Nikon F

Product information "Walimex pro 8/3.8 Fisheye II Video APS-C Nikon F"

Developed for photography and videography

This fisheye from walimex pro was developed for use in photography and videography. The aperture can be infinitely adjusted from 3.8 to 22 and the focus adjustment is soft and smooth. This makes it possible to smoothly adjust the sharpness when shooting video. The aperture ring and focus ring are equipped with a gear rim and are therefore optimised for use with follow focus systems (follow focus systems), especially for filming with DSLRs . For better readability, the distance and aperture scales are arranged on the side.

Unique shots

The fisheye lens from walimex pro gives you a completely new perspective. Thanks to the unusual perspective, there are no limits to your creativity. The special depth of field and the extremely large picture angle open up a whole range of possibilities for experimental videographers and photographers. The walimex pro Fish-Eye has a focal length of just 8mm. Even at a minimum distance of 30cm, exciting wide-angle shots can be captured in brilliant sharpness. The high light intensity of f/3.8 also enables excellent shots in less favourable light conditions.

New image design ing options for moving and still images

With the walimex pro fisheye lens, videographers have a wide range of design options, especially for spherical panoramas. Straight lines that are not in the centre of the image are displayed as curved and the distortion is strongly barrel-shaped. This special lens type has a particularly short focal length for its image format size, which causes the image to be displayed with curved shapes. This means that pictures taken with the walimex pro fisheye lens have a typical spherical, distorted perspective.

High-quality workmanship

The lens is of high-quality construction. The metal housing is very robust and impresses with its elegant appearance. The glass lenses of the lens are coated and thus provide an excellent contrast and sharpness range as well as a balanced colour balance. The particularly high-quality optics of the lens ensure optimal imaging results. A lens hood prevents lateral stray light and lens reflections.

Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor

Lenses developed for cameras with APS-C sensors can sometimes be used (mainly with an adapter) on cameras with a full-frame sensor.
However, due to the significantly smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the edges appear black.
The usable area of the image photographed with a full-frame camera is therefore the same as that of a camera with an APS-C sensor.
The images must therefore be cropped in post-processing. Using APS-C lenses on full-frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.

  • Feature Do not look directly at the sun or strong light through the lens. This can lead to blindness.
  • Feature Do not store the lens without the lens cap attached in a place exposed to direct sunlight, e.g. in a vehicle. Direct sunlight through the lens may be focused and cause a fire.
  • Feature Keep the lens out of the reach of children. Failure to do so may result in accidents or injuries.
    Precautions for use

  • Feature To use the lens safely, attach or remove it with the camera switched off.
  • Feature Take care not to touch or contaminate the contact point of the bayonet. If electronic signals are not transmitted smoothly between the camera and lens, this can lead to a malfunction.
  • Feature Do not apply excessive force to the lens attached to the camera. This may cause damage to the lens and/or camera.
  • Feature It is recommended to use a stable tripod. If a stable tripod is not used, it may collapse, causing damage to the camera and/or lens.

  • Feature Ensure that the lens does not come into contact with water or other liquids and store the lens in a dry, well-ventilated place.
  • Feature If the lens gets wet or if you use the lens with wet hands, this can lead to product failure, fire or electric shock.
  • Feature Avoid direct sunlight and do not store the lens with naphthalene or mothballs.
  • Feature Do not use the lens in a place with strong temperature fluctuations. In particular, if you bring a lens that has been cooled down in a cold place to a warm place, the humidity may concentrate on the outside or inside, resulting in defects or mold growth. In such a situation, store the lens in a special camera bag and do not take it out until the temperature of the lens has adjusted to the ambient temperature.
  • Feature If the surface of the lens is dirty, dust it off with a lens blower or a brush and wipe the lens with a clean, soft cloth (cleaning cloth, cotton cloth, etc.).
  • Feature When dusting or cleaning the lens, do not use organic solvents such as thinner, alcohol or benzene, but rather ethanol or lens cleaner.
  • Feature Do not modify or alter the lens, as this may cause the camera to fail. Modified lenses invalidate all warranty claims and cannot be repaired.
