Walimex pro 8/3.5 Fisheye II APS-C Canon EF-S

Product information "Walimex pro 8/3.5 Fisheye II APS-C Canon EF-S"

Unique shots

The Fisheye lens by walimex pro gives you a completely new perspective on things. Thanks to the unusual perspective, there are no limits to your creativity. Whether in panorama or landscape photography or in the narrowest of spaces, the walimex pro Fisheye lens lets you achieve brilliant all-round shots. The special depth of field and the angle of view of 167° on the Canon camera open up a world of possibilities for the adventurous photographer.

High-quality workmanship

The focal length of just 8mm allows a minimum distance of 30cm. It allows you to capture exciting wide-angle images, starting just in front of the front lens, in brilliant sharpness. The high lens speed of 1:3.5 also allows excellent shots to be taken in less favourable light conditions. The lens is optimised for DSLR cameras with APS-C sensors. A lens hood prevents lateral stray light and lens reflections. The glass lenses of the lens are coated and provide excellent contrast and very good sharpness. The particularly high-quality optics of the lens ensure optimal image results with balanced colour reproduction.

New image design possibilities

With the walimex pro fisheye, photographers have a wide range of design options, especially for spherical panoramas. All lines that pass through the centre of the image are not distorted. On the other hand, all lines at the edge are distorted, strongly barrel-shaped. This effect is used for a variety of effects (globe effect, for example, with a typical, spherically distorted perspective).

Use on full-frame cameras

The lens is designed for the image circle of the APS-C camera. Full format is not distinguished: dark edges or corners remain. The effect can sometimes be used to attractive effect. You can find sample photos under the heading ‘Examples of use’. Since the shading cannot be applied with sharp edges, post-processing is recommended. You can find example photos under the heading ‘Examples of use’.

Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor

Lenses developed for cameras with APS-C sensors can sometimes be used (mainly with an adapter) on cameras with a full-frame sensor.
However, due to the significantly smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the edges appear black.
The usable area of the image photographed with a full-frame camera therefore corresponds to that of a camera with an APS-C sensor.
The images must therefore be cropped in post-processing. Using APS-C lenses on full-frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.

Safety Instructions

General notes:

  • Feature Download the full version of the operating instructions before setting up and using the item.
  • Feature Read the full version of the instruction manual carefully before using your product for the first time. It contains everything you need to know to avoid personal injury, environmental damage and damage to property.
  • Feature Carefully follow all the detailed safety instructions in the full operating instructions!
  • Feature Disposal instructions: Please dispose of the packaging and this product at the end of its service life in accordance with the laws applicable in your country.
  • Feature Choking hazard due to small parts: Keep the appliance and packaging material away from children and pets.

Danger of blindness and damage to the eyes
  • Feature Do not look directly at the sun or strong light through the lens. This can lead to blindness.
  • Feature Do not store the lens without the lens cap attached in a place exposed to direct sunlight, e.g. in a vehicle. Direct sunlight through the lens may be focused and cause a fire.
  • Feature Keep the lens out of the reach of children. Failure to do so may result in accidents or injuries.
    Precautions for use

  • Feature To use the lens safely, attach or remove it with the camera switched off.
  • Feature Take care not to touch or contaminate the contact point of the bayonet. If electronic signals are not transmitted smoothly between the camera and lens, this can lead to a malfunction.
  • Feature Do not apply excessive force to the lens attached to the camera. This may cause damage to the lens and/or camera.
  • Feature It is recommended to use a stable tripod. If a stable tripod is not used, it may collapse, causing damage to the camera and/or lens.
  • Feature If the lens is stored in a hot place, it may be damaged or deformed, which may affect its performance.
  • Feature Ensure that the lens does not come into contact with water or other liquids and store the lens in a dry, well-ventilated place.
  • Feature If the lens gets wet or if you use the lens with wet hands, this can lead to product failure, fire or electric shock.
  • Feature Avoid direct sunlight and do not store the lens with naphthalene or mothballs.
  • Feature Do not use the lens in a place with strong temperature fluctuations. In particular, if you bring a lens that has been cooled down in a cold place to a warm place, the humidity may concentrate on the outside or inside, resulting in defects or mold growth. In such a situation, store the lens in a special camera bag and do not take it out until the temperature of the lens has adjusted to the ambient temperature.
  • Feature If the surface of the lens is dirty, dust it off with a lens blower or a brush and wipe the lens with a clean, soft cloth (cleaning cloth, cotton cloth, etc.).
  • Feature When dusting or cleaning the lens, do not use organic solvents such as thinner, alcohol or benzene, but rather ethanol or lens cleaner.
  • Feature Do not modify or alter the lens, as this may cause the camera to fail. Modified lenses invalidate all warranty claims and cannot be repaired.
