Walimex pro 500/6.3 DSLR Mirror C-Mount

Product information "Walimex pro 500/6.3 DSLR Mirror C-Mount"

Normally, a long focal length of 500mm is also accommodated in a version of 500mm in length (see our 500mm lens objectives).

In order to achieve a compact solution that is handy, universally applicable and compact, a trick was used for this objective. The beam path is simply ‘folded’ using two high-precision polished ring mirrors.

This results in a very compact design and an aperture that is over 50% larger than a lens objective with the same focal length, as well as a very short closest focusing distance of just 2 metres. The lens is focused manually. It can be used with either aperture priority or shutter priority (depending on the camera). It is not technically possible to insert an iris diaphragm into the folded beam path. If light reduction is necessary, this is easily achieved by using neutral density filters (not included), which are screwed in front of the rear lens. For this purpose, there is an M34x0.5 thread.

Practical: the lens has no fixed infinity stop. Focusing is carried out in a ‘pendulum’ fashion, whereby the point of focus is reliably found from out of focus to in focus to out of focus.

T2 connection, user tip: The T2 adapter is screwed onto the optics, then the lens is locked. After loosening the small screws on the side of the T2 adapter, the lens can be ‘raised’ – the index can be aligned upwards. Retightening the screws reliably secures the lens and adapter.

Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor

Save time in post-processing. A number of lens defects such as distortion, edge blurring or vignetting occur at the outer edges of the image.
If you use a lens designed for a full-frame sensor on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. This is how you get maximum quality.
Additional post-processing time to correct lens defects is no longer necessary.

Safety Instructions

General notes:

  • Feature Download the full version of the operating instructions before setting up and using the item.
  • Feature Read the full version of the instruction manual carefully before using your product for the first time. It contains everything you need to know to avoid personal injury, environmental damage and damage to property.
  • Feature Carefully follow all the detailed safety instructions in the full operating instructions!
  • Feature Disposal instructions: Please dispose of the packaging and this product at the end of its service life in accordance with the laws applicable in your country.
  • Feature Choking hazard due to small parts: Keep the appliance and packaging material away from children and pets.

Danger of blindness and damage to the eyes
  • Feature Do not look directly at the sun or strong light through the lens. This can lead to blindness.
  • Feature Do not store the lens without the lens cap attached in a place exposed to direct sunlight, e.g. in a vehicle. Direct sunlight through the lens may be focused and cause a fire.
  • Feature Keep the lens out of the reach of children. Failure to do so may result in accidents or injuries.
    Precautions for use

  • Feature To use the lens safely, attach or remove it with the camera switched off.
  • Feature Take care not to touch or contaminate the contact point of the bayonet. If electronic signals are not transmitted smoothly between the camera and lens, this can lead to a malfunction.
  • Feature Do not apply excessive force to the lens attached to the camera. This may cause damage to the lens and/or camera.
  • Feature It is recommended to use a stable tripod. If a stable tripod is not used, it may collapse, causing damage to the camera and/or lens.
  • Feature If the lens is stored in a hot place, it may be damaged or deformed, which may affect its performance.
  • Feature Ensure that the lens does not come into contact with water or other liquids and store the lens in a dry, well-ventilated place.
  • Feature If the lens gets wet or if you use the lens with wet hands, this can lead to product failure, fire or electric shock.
  • Feature Avoid direct sunlight and do not store the lens with naphthalene or mothballs.
  • Feature Do not use the lens in a place with strong temperature fluctuations. In particular, if you bring a lens that has been cooled down in a cold place to a warm place, the humidity may concentrate on the outside or inside, resulting in defects or mold growth. In such a situation, store the lens in a special camera bag and do not take it out until the temperature of the lens has adjusted to the ambient temperature.
  • Feature If the surface of the lens is dirty, dust it off with a lens blower or a brush and wipe the lens with a clean, soft cloth (cleaning cloth, cotton cloth, etc.).
  • Feature When dusting or cleaning the lens, do not use organic solvents such as thinner, alcohol or benzene, but rather ethanol or lens cleaner.
  • Feature Do not modify or alter the lens, as this may cause the camera to fail. Modified lenses invalidate all warranty claims and cannot be repaired.
